ABOUT US
Just a little history on the property....
The old house was built in the early 1800's by Hiram Vining and was home to Amasa Holcomb's son Henry in 1894. In 1830 Amasa Holcomb began manufacturing telescopes, the first person to do such in the United States. The Franklin Institute examined his instruments and reported admirably on them.
Amasa Holcomb became quite popular due to the telescopes and just one year before his death he deeded the the property including his "instruments for surveying and observing the heavenly bodies" to his son Henry Holcomb. ( several of these instruments and his autobiography are now in the Smithsonian Institute.)
Since that time, several people have owned the property and have done various alterations. And until recently the Amasa Holcomb House and Farm were popularly known as Putnam Farms.
Over fifteen years ago Jeff and Lenita Bober and Bob and Lois Davis ( Uncle and Aunt) started Blossoming Acres on the Davis property located on Sheep Pasture Rd.in Southwick. This location is still in operation today.
In 2006 Jeff and Lenita purchased the Putnam farm and country store on College Hwy and expanded the business. Purchasing the Putnam farm gave them the opportunity to realize their dream. They work tirelessly to cultivate and renovate the property to bring Southwick this charming "old fashion" country store and flower farm.
Special thanks to Lee David Hamberg for the history / information on the Amasa Holcomb House.

Friday afternoon I found the girls in the kitchen and they were jammin ! With Lenita going to the farmers market on Saturday and the store expecting to be busy with customers, they needed to bake up a storm to keep up with the demand ... and even though they were tired they managed to keep it fun.
Tina, came on board when the Putnam's still owned the farm and carries on the tradition of making great baked goods.
